The walking cane, a combat cane from Cane Masters or a fighting cane from Century martial arts, or any cane that you can use to improve mobility and strength and get around with confidence and more comfort, is the ideal street fight self defense tool. Used in martial arts like Hapkido, Kung Fu, Combat Cane, and others, the walking cane doubles as a medical device and a fighting tool that has no equal. You can take it with you wherever you go during your day, and it will not be confiscated by police or banned by the authorities.
Self Defense Canes come in many sizes, shapes and materials. It does’t matter if you start with a light wood, like rattan, or heavy hard woods like oak or hickory, or metal or polymer. Get started training with a cane by spinning and twirling for spatial awareness and to develop speed and power and a stronger hand and wrist and shoulders. Also, add some strikes and blocks and other techniques used in self defense.
Fighting and defending yourself with a self defense or combat cane requires a set of principles, starting with situational awareness. Pay attention to the potential for a violent assault so that you can be ready to respond with your self defense cane. The second principle of cane self defense is getting in a better position by putting the cane between your body and the physical attack or violent assault. The third principle of cane self defense is picking targets that you can strike or jab or smash with your fighting cane or self defense cane, that you can remove or destroy. One example might be that you strike their eyes with your self defense cane, so that they cannot see you in order to press their attack. Another example would be that you strike or jab their throat with your self defense cane in order to remove their ability to breathe! Finally, the fourth principle is to commit on each strike with your walking cane or self defense cane with full speed and power! Remember that the self defense fight with your cane is not over until you win!
